Metal Spinning

      Of all the techniques used in metal forming, metal spinning is one of the least known but produces some of the most interesting shapes , most companies spend an excessive amount of time and money to get the forms they need at their favorite sheet metal shops. However metal spinning is much more than just bending metal.
      The process of metal spinning is done on a metal spinning lathe. A circle is pressed between a chuck or mandrel and follower or tailstock. The assembly is then rotated with the operator applying pressure to the metal disc. Through a series of passes the metal is formed around the mandrel. The result is exact profile of the mandrel.
